Institut Roquetes

Hi! We are going to show you our school, Institut Roquetes. Are you ready? ;)

Institut Roquetes is quite “young”. It’s only sixteen years old, just like us. Our school is called like our city, Roquetes. We are located in Les Terres de l’Ebre, a gorgeous zone surrounded by lots of natural wonders. We have from a range of mountains called “El Port de Beseit” to a wonderful delta reaching out into the sea. Our wild life and plants are very rich, we are very lucky living here.

Most of the students in Institut Roquetes, are from different small towns (Roquetes, Jesús, Xerta, Benifallet…) We’re a huge group of people in the same building, more or less 800. An interesting thing about this is that nearly every day you meet somebody from your own town you’ve never seen before.

The building is not very big compared to the number of students that are in it. It’s made of orange bricks and is divided by four parts, the ESO building, the biggest part where nearly all the classes are. Then we have the Batxillerat part, where our classes are, it was built only recently because there was no more place in the ESO part. The third one is the gym, where we do sports, have a shower and so on. The final part is outside the main area of the school, it’s a different building where people study hairdressing and to be a beautician.

Here in our country when you go to secondary school you study what is called ESO, this is an abbreviation for Obligatory Secundary Education.  You do this for four years, from 12 to 16.  Then you can either study professional formation, we offer hairdressing and beautician, or go on to study Batxillerat.  Batxillerat is a two year course that prepares you for your university entrance exams.  All of us in the Comenius project are studying batxillerat.  Some of us are studying sciences others arts subjects.

Hi,

I'm Chris Edwards-Westlake Cuartiella and I'm 17 years old.  As you can see from my name I'm half British. I'm looking forward to working in the project because I love languages and travelling. I like sports but at the moment I can't play basketball 'cos I don't have time, but I go to the gym three times a week.  Music is also one of my passions, I've recently started to learn piano. I have always wanted to play an instrument. I like cooking a lot and I like innovating when I cook.
